Bearing Life Solutions

In general, Roller bearings give the highest life but have the lowest limiting speed.

Increase the shaft diameter.

If that causes a limiting speed problem reduce the shaft diameter again.

If the low life occurs at the fixed bearing try adding back fins to the impeller.

Change the pedestal length for overhung fans (only small changes are usually obtained by this method).

For overhung applications try using a small roller bearing at the drive end and a larger ball or Carb bearing at the impeller end (fix the drive end).
